Dr. Kuang-Ching “KC” Wang is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University. Dr. Wang is the Director for Clemson’s Center of Excellence for Next Generation Computing and Creativity. He also serves as the Networking CTO for university IT.
Dr. Wang’s interests are in advanced networking and computing systems, including software defined networking, cloud computing, network function virtualization, and cyber physical systems’ architecture, protocols, and quality of service assurance. He has published 4 book chapters and over 70 refereed journal and conference proceeding papers. Dr. Wang has been involved in over 30 projects in excess of $19 million. Dr. Wang is the PI for several NSF GENI future Internet projects deploying SDN, WiMAX, and compute racks for nationwide research experimentation. He is the PI for “Clemson NextNet” – a NSF campus cyber-infrastructure project for deploying university wide SDN and building a SDN support team in the IT organization. He is also the Clemson PI for “CloudLab”, a NSF Future Cloud project.
Dr. Wang is involved in the leadership and organization of many conferences, e.g., the Program Chair of ACM BigSystem 2015 and SDN Track Chair of IEEE ICCCN 2014. He was a member on the US Ignite mentoring team for integrating SDN with broadband applications. In 2012, while on sabbatical at Stanford, he was member of ON.Lab that developed the first SDN-IP peering solution, the manager for the Floodlight open source SDN controller project, and a developer for both the OpenStack and CloudStack open source cloud computing system software. Dr. Wang is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of ACM.
